This is Alex Behind this Best Generator Review. I have completed my Diploma in Electrical & Advanced Electrical from Apex Technical School, NYC. The School curriculum covers an introduction to the National Electric Code and includes an emphasis on electrical safety, breakers and fuses, blueprints, grounding, outlets, splicing, and bonding. Besides my job, I like to spend my time testing and playing with different electrical devices. Generators are one of my favorite machines.

  1. Decent Inverter Generator. This Champion Inverter Generator is decent and quieter compared to our old 1800 watt standard generator. It even ran our RV at 3000′ elevation (including A/C) without too much difficulty.

What they don’t tell you (and this is true of ALL generators) is that the rating as advertised is for sea level to about 500′. If you live or camp at higher elevations you will not get the rated power so take that into account when making a purchase.

  2. Best Bang for the Buck. Just purchased this to run our 25′ travel trailer when we don’t have access to hookups and for NASCAR weekends at the track. Runs everything in the camper including the 13,500btu Dometic air conditioner. Not as quiet as my buddy’s brand ‘H’ EU3000, but not unacceptable.

  3. Excellent value. Originally bought this for dry camping and it did the job. First real use was when we went north after Matthew last year and due to road closures we stayed at a couple different WalMarts and it ran everything including the 15,500 ac. Even though it could run the fridge I kept it and the water heater on propane. Also, it struggles with both the ac and microwave so I shut the ac off briefly when I used the microwave. But the real test came recently with Irma as our house lost power. We plugged in the refrigerator, 8000 btu portable air conditioner, and charged our phones and laptops and had at least 3 lamps on at a time. With all this, it ran just under 9 hours before running out of gas. I ran 89 octane non-ethanol gas so I’m sure that made a difference.

  4. Excellent generator for long term emergencies. Great little giant…. Since the hurricanes Irma and Maria this generator has been our source of energy meeting our expectations and needs apart from the fuel efficient and low sound level. Very happy with the purchase !!!

  5. Happy Camper says:

Absolute Champion. I needed a generator that could run a 15k RV ac, a friend recommended this model to me! I love the fact that it has a 30amp rv plug-in! I can pick it up by myself however someone thats on the smaller side may need help!

  6. GREAT LITTLE YELLOW GENNY. Review of my (USA) Champion 3100/2800 watt surge/run inverter generator. Delivery was Aug 15, 2019. I ran it for 5hrs per manual for break in. The oil was changed out & PR full synthetic was used until next svs req. We took our genny down to our RV & tried various power items in the unit. Our RV has a 50amp plug so a 30amp dogbone was used to attach it to the genny. We ran various items, then the big test. We switched off items in the panel box & started “1” AC unit. We ran this for over 30mins. This unit ran the AC but is NOT recommended it you want the unit to last. I was surprised it started & ran the AC but this was only a test. We have a larger unit we could use for power hungry items. Im very happy with it’s performance thus far. My only knocks on this unit would be for lack of fuel gauge, hr meter & output display. So this receives 4 of 5 stars. I did install my own hr meter to help me remember svs times… They sell nice covers too !!!

  7. You cannot beat this machine! I bought one of these bad boys to power my mobile auto detailing service 4 years ago and have used 8-10 hours per day, 6-7 days per week since then. Seriously, we use this thing A TON. Not only that, but we are running about 2800W at all times so the machine is completely maxed out. We change the oil 1-2 times a month and it runs like a top! Never had a single issue with it in 4 years of extremely heavy use. Unless you count the one time the pull cord broke and Champion customer service sent me a new one free of charge that was a easy to swap out. We recently had this generator professionally serviced and they replaced the carburetor and all of the seals, along with many other parts. They said many parts were completely shot and had obviously seen a ton of hours. Makes sense, but you wouldn’t have known it by the way it ran. Only reason why I even took it in was because I figured I probably should after all of the use. Now it’s back in action and continues to run great. We still needed a generator while the first one was undergoing service, and you’re never going to guess what we bought… that’s right, the exact same generator! And guess what? It was cheaper this time, and this one is much quieter than the old one! And the old one was was pretty quiet. Additionally, they’ve added some convenient features. For example, you can now change the oil with absolutely no tools, and they have it set up so it’s almost impossible to spill. I love these machines. They are quiet, powerful, and they start on the first pull every time. Plus Champion customer service is top notch. These folks have earned my repeat business with their generators, and if I ever need a different piece of power equipment and Champion makes it, I will be going with them. No questions asked.

  8. Great generator, quiet and handles the load! I bought this generator as a backup for our travel trailer, which mainly uses solar, but also as a backup for the house power in an outage. I already have a large open frame generator that produces 50 amp, 220 volt power, but that one really sucks up the gas and is very loud, so this smaller, quieter Champion handles the usual loads in the house much more economically. Using a 30 amp to 50 amp RV pigtail plugged into our emergency power outlet I can power both 110 volt sides of my breaker panel, after opening all the 220 volt breakers, and get 110 volts to all my household loads. On a recent outage we ran the lights, refrigerator, propane water heater combustion fan, radiant heat circ pump, as well as the coffee maker with no problem. Of course, if we need to run the oven or range we will need to connect the larger generator, but for 90% of the time during an outage this little Champion does the trick. I especially like the little things built in, like wheels and a folding handle to move the generator, the oil change drain hose and oil fill drip spout that makes sure oil does not get where I don’t want it, and the gas fill drip ramp built into the casing which would direct overfill off of the housing. And, the generator feels solid and well built. I used my Android sound meter and found the advertised sound level seems to be accurate, although the unit is louder on the side with the engine exhaust. But in any case the sound level is low, conversation is easy near the unit, and the sound level is much, much lower than our large open generator.

  9. Fantastic product, plenty of power. Bought this to run AC and power in travel trailer. AC is 13,500 BTU and this runs it no problem. Easy to load in truck as well, good wheels and handle. Auto shut off if oil is low is a nice back up if you forget to check it. Starts every time with one or two pulls. Very happy I bought this instead of a more expensive red competitor.

  10. Best little generator around for the money. I bought this generator to run my camper. Had to buy a quiet one due to noise restrictions where we camp. I was very impressed with the price, ease to start and use, functionality, and quietness of this mighty little generator. I’m very impressed and foresee it lasting me years to come. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
