We have used Firman p03608 Remote Start Gas Portable Generator for camping, during hunting season. The remote start is so nice. We debated whether or not if we needed it or just wanted that feature but in the end, bought it and we are so glad we did.

We bought Honda EG2800i for today's Gossip. We wanted a generator that's user-friendly, quiet, fuel-efficient, durable, easily maintained, and with access to maintenance, repair, and replacement parts. We wanted clean, stable power for my computer and other electronics, so we looked only at inverter generators. I read and watched countless reviews on sites and message boards and talked to others who owned generators.

PROS:
  • It cranks up quickly and easily with an electric start.
  • It powers everything on and in my 30amp camper as long as I don’t simultaneously fire up the AC and microwave.
  • It’s quiet and fuel-efficient.
  • Fuel efficiency: I had some concerns about getting through a summer night on one tank of gas since specs say that it’ll run for only 7 hours at full rated capacity.

  • Fuel Type: Gasoline
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 6.6 Gallons

We bought Westinghouse wgen7500 Portable Generator. This is an Amazing generator with great customer service. We purchased this generator in response to the "Bomb Cyclone" which was to be followed by several days of -6 degree temps. If the worst happened, We would have to drain the house pipes and hope that was enough to keep damage from the house.

PROS:
  • - At 5300W, tons of bang for the buck. Better power output than generators costing a lot more.
  • - Started very easily, 1st or 2nd pull every time.
  • - Has a display to show total running time, watts, etc. Many other generators don't have this.
  • - Came with oil, so that's nice.
  • - Big gas tank and seems to be very fuel-efficient. The tank holds nearly 5 gallons of gas; I was only running a fridge and deep freezer plus a couple of lights but even so, I got easily 18 hours before I had to refill. Very happy.
CONS:
  • - The only real negative with this unit is the THD. The product info says something like "THD <23%". Well first off, 23% is huge.
